What's changed with the City of Yes?

The City of Yes passed on December 5. And before the online resources are updates, we've already made our way through 3,322 pages of zoning regulations (warning, 100MB), to give you an overview of the changes, with a summary to get going. On purpose, we don't cover everything that's changed, we focus on the parts that are most likely to move the needle:

Initiative Who qualifies? Benefit Results
Transit-Oriented Development R1-R5, Next to transit, large lot More FAR Post: 23,000 lots qualify
Town-Center Housing R1-R5, commercially zoned More FAR Review in progress
Parking Requirements Most zoning districts Less required parking Post: Parking requirements have been practically eliminated for multi-family buildings
ADU 1-2 units in building Build and rent ADU Completed post: More than 100,000 lots allow for ADUs
District Fixes Some districts in R1-R5 More FAR Review in progress

The table also links to our in-depth reviews. Over the coming views, we will fill this out fully, and give you a way to understand how much each initiative matters.
